what we’re excited about in 2024

A new year means new design trends. Although I am not a fan of trends in general, a few of my favorite design elements are growing in popularity, and I am more than happy to lean in. Here is what I'm excited about in 2024!

Warm neutrals.

Perhaps the most talked-about trend happening now is the move away from cool grays and stark whites. While neutrals will never go out of style, warmer tones like beiges, creamy-off whites, and rich browns are drawing us in.

 One of a kind items.

In a world of mass-produced goods, the appeal of unique, one of a kind items is stronger than ever. Whether it's a piece of vintage artwork, or an artisanal pot, items with a history and story bring a unique, personal touch to a room, and infuse soul and character into your space.

 Dark woods.

People are longing for warmth and timelessness. This may be one reason why more and more dark woods, like walnut, are finding a place in people's homes again.

 Checkerboard.

Checked patterns--including plaid, gingham, and buffalo check--have been a classic design staple for decades. But this traditional pattern is making a comeback in a modern way. Whether it's playing with color or scale, this pattern is bold, unfussy, and plays well in any space.

Bring the outdoors in.

Having the indoors be an extension of the outdoors is always in. Natural wooden elements such as woven shades, wood furniture, greenery, curved organic lines, and the use of colors like greens and blues that are found in nature define this trend.
