romanticizing life at home

The concept of romanticizing your life is centered around the idea of celebrating the mundane and making even the most ordinary day feel extraordinary. As an interior designer, this is my goal with every project…to romanticize life at home. More specifically, to make clients fall in love with where they live, and how they live there. Here are 5 simple ideas on how I approach the home in hopes it inspires you.

Designate A Nook

It could be a reading nook, a writing desk, or a designated spot for your hobbies. The goal is to designate a beautiful and functional space for something you love so you can get lost in the moment and let the world slow down around you.

Turn Down the Lights

Put your overhead lights on dimmers and place lamps around the house. At night, the lights go down, the lamps go on, and there is almost always a candle lit. The mood is instantly transformed to cozy, safe and warm. It’s such a simple thing, but the right lighting always helps me unwind from the day.

The Power of Nature

Bringing flowers and greenery inside your home will help to blur the lines between indoors and outdoors, giving you that resort-life effect. Whether the stems are real or faux, natural elements instantly add life and beauty to the home.

Prioritize Natural Textiles

Nothing says luxury like natural textiles and sustainable fabrics like cotton, linen, wool and silk. These fabrics have a natural beauty and tenderness that synthetic materials can't match. Whether it's a blanket, rug, or loungewear, indulging in the feeling of soft fabrics will elevate your home life by appealing to multiple senses.

Get the Pretty One

Anything you use daily, or see daily…get the pretty version. Get the hand towels, the cutting boards, the everyday plates and cups you love to look at. It's a simple way to bring joy to the mundane. It’s all about the little things, and I think we are all worth it.
